Dr. Vasquez is a board certified general surgeon with 20 years of experience who considers attentive listening as one of his most important roles as a physician. His philosophy of care emphasizes empowering his patients to be active participants in their surgical care. He accomplishes this by having clear and in-depth discussions about a person’s disease process while striving to ensure that his patients feel like he is addressing not only the physical component of surgery, but also the emotional and social effect that comes from having surgery. Patients often tell Dr. Vasquez with a smile that he “is not like most surgeons” and he takes this as a compliment as it highlights the bond he forges with patients during their most trying times.

Dr. Vasquez’s professional journey has taken him to Utah and Oregon but he is happy to return to his home state of Texas. He appreciates his mom’s insistence on not forgetting Spanish as this has been beneficial in communications with the Hispanic community. As he embarks on the next chapter of his professional life serving the communities of North Texas, he and his wife look forward to enjoying all that the DFW area has to offer. Dr. Vasquez enjoys traveling and spending time with his 3 awesome kids.
Dr. Vasquez attended St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry before obtaining his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UT Health Science Center Houston. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and went on to specialize in Advanced Gastrointestinal and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. His current practice offers comprehensive general surgery, acute care surgery, minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and endoscopy.
